I’ve had a request to show my work outfits for an entire week and like the terrible blogger I am, I didn’t do it for a like a year. Apologies dear reader. Thankfully that reader is also one of my best friends so I know they are still reading and will see this. *Waves. You know who you are.* I was going to complicate this post and do 15 different outfit changes and do posts for them, but I realized sometimes simply standing in my living room is enough.
A Week of Work Outfits
Monday
Monday is a heavy conference call day for me, but on this Monday I had an in-person meeting. I hadn’t shaved my legs and I overslept so a dress was out of the question. I went into the closet and saw this new wrap top I got for a steal and knew I wanted to slightly look like an American Airlines flight attendant so that won. It’s actually now one of my go-to outfits if I need to wear pants (heavy shipping days, moving around boxes, etc.) because the faux-wrap part of the top is SO flattering and comfortable.
I really don’t wear pants to work often. In fact, it’s so rare that people comment on it. However, with the back and forth spring/winter weather we’ve been having I’ve worn them a little more often. This week I did want to showcase how I wear pants when I DO wear them. Spoiler alert: It’s not exciting.
Tuesday
I’ve wanted to make this outfit work for a while and well, I did it. It’s not my favorite as no matter how often I steam this skirt, it’s wrinkled. I just wanted this to work SO BADLY! I had to get it out of my system. Never one to, tire of polka dots a bows individually, pretty much any day is an automatic 10 when I find a way to get BOTH into one single outfit. I look a little like a school marm I think, so I threw in some Tory Burch heels to try to take it away from that. These Tory heels have been the best purchase for a classic pair of short heels for work. I can wear them for events which is always something that makes me feel better about spending extra money.
Also, I did shave my legs that morning so I was determined to also make it worth while so I wore a shorter skirt.
Wednesday
This is my favorite new dress I got from Nordstrom. When I first got it, I wasn’t sure how I felt. I think it’s a little expensive for the quality, but honestly I got so many compliments I couldn’t return it. It’s a night light fabric for spring through fall and a very striking color. I like to wear red when presenting because I feel confident and it turns my sass up a little.
I’m going to have this taken up about 1.5 inches (hey lovely sister who knows how to sew….) because the way it comes it makes me look short than I’d like, which was one of the reasons I wasn’t crazy about the price at first. Then I realized what needed to be done and now it’s a staple in my wardrobe.
Also because it makes your butt look really good. 10/10 would recommend.
Thursday
If these pants look familiar, it’s because they are. They are the same cut as the blue ones I wore on Monday. I only have two pairs of dress pants and they are both from Loft. I could venture out to look for more but pants shopping is miserable. The main reason I am trying to watch what I eat now is that I’m afraid I’ll outgrow these pants and have to start looking.
This top I got from Who What Wear at Target and I really thought I was going to find all these ways to wear it. I’ve worn it once and was comfortable, but also takes on a surprisingly granny feel. The belt was an impulse purchase from ASOS to get free shipping and is my way of telling myself to NOT get that stupid Gucci belt everyone has that I want.
I’m not a huge fan of tucking in tops as I feel like it gives me a little pooch and I am not in favor of drawing attention to my stomach at this point. However, some tops just don’t work any other way. Plus, people probably don’t notice as much as I think they do.
Friday
Casual Friday is really not a think for me, so I wore my at the time, new ASOS wrap dress. See a wrap theme going on this week? It was cold again so I skipped tights and instead did my favorite over the knee boots because I knew it would be one of the last times this season I would be able to. (Just kidding, it’s 35 degrees outside right now, thanks weather.)
I also knew I was going to meet a friend after work so I wanted to have a fun dress that goes from work to real-life. This dress is incredibly comfortable and I love that the star print looks like polka dots and it also has a ruffle.
I almost didn’t put together this post because I don’t think these are the MOST exciting outfits, so I’ll do it again. I think its important that I’m very realistic about while I do have a lot of outfits that are very stylist and complicated to wear and figure out what goes where, sometimes for work you just wear a wrap dress. What looks great in blog-land doesn’t always translate well to real life!
Anyway, it’s whole new week of outfits and I’ll try to photograph this month and keep this going. (Yes, this now means I might have TWO series going on the blog. What.Is.Happening.)

I want so many of these outfits, and I may have shopped for that red wrap dress after seeing it in your wishlist. I didn’t buy it because, you know, baby, but next time I need a dress for work, I will be getting it. Also – I love your Friday outfit. Like love it so much. I need to go find some boots that will fit over my calves (they never got smaller after I got my KU calves).

I have no doubt that you’re the most stylish girl in the office. Great looks, I love that red wrap dress.

You looked so great each day of the week! I bet you get a lot of compliments!

I love your work outfits. Far better than anything I’ve worn to work in at least six months, since as soon as it gets cold I wear jeans and the warmest sweaters I own (it’s annoyingly cold at work in the winter). I also bought a similar ring belt so I could partake in the trend without an overt knockoff or an overpriced designer piece I only like because everyone else is wearing it.

I read your blog but have never commented before…but your two pairs of dress pants cracked me up! Same, girl! I have a navy and a black pair of dress pants that are, like, eight years old. I recently started counting calories again because they were feeling tight and I HATE pants shopping.

Don’t sell yourself short, I love these! Especially the casual friday look, personally. I struggle with creative dressing in the morning so lately it’s been ponte pants from Ann Taylor + riding boots or booties + whatever sweater… I like your dress approach!
