I’m trying this new thing where I don’t say everything I’m thinking. I adopted it back in November as a holiday survival strategy and it served me well so I wanted to try out this thing where you just don’t say every little thing that you are thinking in all scenarios. My verdict? If you aren’t saying what you are thinking, what else is there to talk about? There’s only so much “Uhhuh…mmmhhmm….preach it….LOL….Yep, totally….oh girl, I feel you..,” etc. that you can do before you feel like your eyes are permanently in a state of aching from all of the internal and actual eye rolling you do while trying to smile and not say what you are thinking.

Because of this temporary life change, this is definitely not permanent, I’ve decided to just let my clothes do the talking through some high-quality statement pieces. I don’t think there’s a single person alive that sees a woman in these ridiculously awesome booties that thinks, “You know, she’s probably a really quiet, mild person who doesn’t have strong feelings about anything, or cry about how deeply she feels a commercial with puppies in it.” No, I think that these booties immediately communicate that I have PLENTY of feelings, or feelings about everything, am the opposite of a quiet, mild woman and have plenty to say. They KNOW if they are going to talk to someone with bold booties, they are going to have to step up their game because that person is BRINGING. IT. ON.
While I could just let someone know all of the things I am through a one-on-one conversation, I’d rather just let my shoes communicate everything that needs to be said so we can skip all the questions about what kind of person I am and my taste in shoes. Because shoes are life. Okay, not really but close enough in the blogging world.

So far letting my booties talk for me has done a pretty great job. I’ve gotten fewer , “ALISSA!”‘s’ from my mother, I’ve decided this justifies more shoes (obviously a win), I have a feeling things are going to change soon. I’ll just be a loud person with loud shoes and that’s kind of exactly the person I want to hang out with so I think it’s going to work out marvelously.
And in case you are wondering, it took me four times to write the title of this blog post without typing, “Let your booty do the talking.” I mean, I am human after all.

I admire the fact that you are able to say everything you are thinking. It's somewhat of a rare quality. Of course letting clothes do the talking is a good strategy as well, because people will know what to expect before engaging (or sometimes giving them fodder to start a conversation, be that good or bad).
I also cry over commercials with puppies. It's totally normal.
