The #1 beauty topic you’ve asked me to discuss, besides curly hair, are my eyelashes and what I do to make them full, thick and voluminous. Apart from my hair, they really are my trademark so I take a lot of care when it comes to them. However, I have no time to spend a lot of time on eyelashes, so I get these results in 30 seconds now that I know exactly what my lashes need.
First, It’s all in the Brush
I’m going to let you know something. It doesn’t matter what formula you have. It matters what brush works best for your eyelid and lashes. I can tell you that I cannot use some of the most popular mascaras (ahem, this one is the WORST on me) because the brushes are simply too bulky and not shaped for my lashes. Start paying attention to what your lashes respond to best and go from there. I will try new mascaras but I will never try them until I see the brush. TRUST me please!
My Mascara(s)
The secret to my lashes is that I don’t expect my mascara to do everything. I expect my first layer to lengthen and define. My second layer thickens and creates volume. I have yet to ever find a mascara than can do both and quite frankly, I like the control I can have when I use two different mascaras.
Benefit – They’re Real
This is my absolute ride of die mascara. The formula is pure magic. I’ve never have someone come back to me and tell me it didn’t transform their lashes. Let me tell you, it is ALL in the brush. The formula isn’t thick but defines, making it the perfect foundation for my next coat. This is my defining and lengthening coat and I apply one coat.
How I apply it (see below for photos) – Using the end of the brush, fan your lashes OUT on the side and then apply normally when looking straight on. The upward motion and using the end of the brush to sweep out will make a TON of difference in your lashes.
Covergirl Lashblast
This is such a great, cheap mascara. This is where you start to see a big impact in volume. I do a quick coat of this and check to see if I want to do more lengthening or volume that day. If you want to go volume, do another coat, but not too many, this one can start to flake a little if it’s not a fresher tube.
It Cosmetics – Superhero
If I want to really go all-out, I will use a third, It Cosmetics Superhero, and I only use it as a finisher. It’s a thicker formula than my They’re Real so I can’t build on top of it. I love, love, love the final layer of it for when I want BIG lashes.
How I apply it – I fan out at the sides to make sure that my lashes remain defined and a quick touch across my entire eyelid. This is a lengthening coat and I only do in touches so my lashes remain defined.
Best Eyelash Growth Serum
The best eyelash growth serum I’ve ever used was so good I had to stop using it. I decided to order Revitalash on a whim and this product WORKS! In fact, it works so well I stopped using it because they were a little too much to handle. (Yes, I know, a real first-world problem.) This eyelash growth serum you can typically snag buy one, get one during the Nordstrom anniversary sale which is great because you can get about six months for the price of three! They also have a brow serum that you can sometimes get a combo of!
A lot of people have concerns about this changing your eye color. I have green eyes, the ones they warn people about when using these products, and I have no had this issue. However, I know that Latisse is the one that first had this issue and I have not tried it because of that.
Why I Prefer This Eyelash Growth Serum
I’m going to be honest. I like this serum because you get results but not the results that make you look like you have spider-leg lashes when you wear mascara. There are some bloggers that I know are super proud of their lashes and I just….. It’s not a good look. Revitalash really provides great, natural lash additions and doesn’t make you have spider-lash syndrome.
General Tips For Better Lashes
- I don’t use an eyelash curler due to the natural curl in my lashes, but a heated one is a great way to keep that curl maintained.
- Sleeping on your back is better for your lashes. Well and your whole body but lashes were really the prime motivation for changing the way I sleep.
- Brush them out at night. I don’t brush my hair but brush my lashes to help keep them in a nice form.
- I am SO messy when it comes to applying mascara and these q-tips have absolutely changed the clean-up process for me.
So that’s it! This is what I use to make sure my lashes look full and long. Once you figure out what brush you need, buy one or all of the mascaras your eyelash game is going to CHANGE!
