Sometimes, when you are talking to someone who you forget doesn’t completely know you, you say something that seems perfectly normal and then based on their reaction you realize that you are the crazy one who didn’t know they were crazy until just that moment. My moment like this? The other day I told a woman about my absolute obsession about takeout food and not eating them with anything other than the utensils from the place.
See, let me explain. Let’s say you and I went to Chipotle and got lunch, take it back home to eat and forget to grab forks. My friend, who is a monster, would just eat it with a metal fork. I, not a monster, would completely flip out because it changes the taste. I swear to God this is true. I don’t want a regular plastic fork. I don’t want a metal one. I want the high quality; recycled, plastic one that Chipotle I’m sure has tested for optimal eating. It changes the experience and the taste of the food!
I also feel this way about takeout. I LOVE me some takeout but by the time you get home, open up that container which all your food has been thrown in, it is nowhere near the same taste as when you are at the restaurant. Pickle juice should NOT BE ON THE FRIES! (Oh by the way, don’t even get me started on how at holidays everybody has their food touching. It’s 2015 people, let’s figure out a way to build a properly proportioned plate that prevents touching.)

Anyway, while one woman was completely in shock at my neurotic tendencies, another woman overhead and decided she had met her takeout soul mate. To each their own. Does that make me crazy? If so, at least my crazy means I’m being crazy while eating food which is really a win.
So, what makes you crazy? You can’t read all the way to this point and not come up with something. Okay, maybe you can because you are perfectly normal and don’t do things that make you crazy.

You are too funny about the utensils!! I am with you on the food touching, I am not fan of that either. Love this outfit on you!

I think your Chipotle fork needs to meet my Golden Spoon spoon! I can not eat that delectable yogurt without their special gold spoon. ha Hubby doesn't even understand, so I grab several when I go in, so I have spare ones at home. As for your adorable polka dot blouse, guess I'd have to speak to you in person before I could decide if it makes you look crazy! lol You always look pulled together hon, I'm envious!

You are a little crazy, I actually like to use my own utensils lol, unless it' takeout sushi then I must get chopsticks. Love this simple outfit on you and cute details.

You are too funny! I don't like when certain foods touch, others don't bother me too much lol 🙂 You look adorable in your polka dots!

Haha I've never thought about that! I don't like my food touching either. My husband knows that and will often put any "runny" foods in little ramekins on my plate haha. We all have our little crazy things.
Lauren {Fizz and Frosting}
I've never thought about utensils, but I can completely relate to food touching issues. My husband thinks I'm crazing because he mixes everything together, regardless of what it is – GROSS.

Haha. See, I'm the opposite. I like using nice dinnerware and silverware with takeout. Maybe because then I can convince myself that I'm a good girlfriend who put in effort? 😉

We each have things that make us unique and that is perfect. I don't have food touching or utensil preferences, but I'm kid of compulsive about washing clothes, towels, blankets, etc. There's almost always a load of laundry going at our house. Cute blouse, btw.

You aren't crazy, but you definitely make me laugh with almost every post!
Pamela {Sequins and Sea Breezes}
LOL I have literally never thought about something tasting different with different utensils! But now that you mention it, I've never eaten Chipotle without anything but a plastic fork so I can't compare!

I personally don't think it tastes differently and I prefer metal utensils before fake plastic ones anyway. Many times those to-go utensils break, especially plastic forks. You look super adorable in your polka dots with your curls. I adore that cuff also. And I am making my mission to find reasonable, sling-back, open-toe nude booties with chunky heels, like yours. =)))

I am DYING over your rationale about Chipotle forks. It's so true, girl! Loving the simplicity of your outfit, too – so classic!

Haha! That is so funny! I can't say I'm exactly the same way. But I DO hate when juices from other foods mix together…BARF!
Loving that bag by the way, such a great color

We all have our neuroses, and I certainly can't judge. While I'm one to eat my takeout on the fine china I will freak out if I order a salad and the dressing is on the side. I want my salads mixed to perfection, where all the lettuce is evenly coated and I don't have to play games trying to mix it while not getting half of it on my lap. I have sent salads back to be mixed.

I am the exact same way! People tell me I am nuts for this all the time but eating Chipotle with a metal fork is food eating suicide in my book, I die a little inside when people can so easily ruin a perfectly fantastic meal with non-Chipotle utensils. Also food touching is a no no, I've been anal about this since birth and nothing is changing. I guide my relatives through making up the perfect plate at the holidays, because I can't watch them eat so ridiculously.

Girlfriend, you cray. I hate, hate, hate using those little plastic forks. You can barely get anything on them! The other day I tried to watch Pete eat with one and it was almost too much for me to handle haha.

If that makes you crazy, then I'm right there with you, girl. I can't stand it when my food touches! And you're right! Utensils definitely make or break food for me. I hate having ice cream with a metal spoon. Always go for the plastic! Besides, why would I use metal utensils when I got takeout?! Then I have to wash the utensils! It defeats the purpose, ha!

Your hair is so beautiful. And, I agree. I always get made when my boyfriend doesn't grab Chipotle silverware. He says "why would I? we have silverware." I'm like that is no way the same thing. Some people just don't get it.

OMG the pickle juice on the fries KILLS ME! I get grilled cheese with fries as take out while I'm at work (cause I eat like a child) and when I go pick it up the first thing I do in the car is lift the grilled cheese out from under the fries so it doesn't get soggy and the outside stays crisp and move the pickle outside the container. You are not alone. It's my bizarre neurotic attention to details that make us all unique. Like the fact that when I fold a shirt and add it to the pile I pat it down…every time…I tried to stop cause I realized I was doing it and there was no purpose in doing it but I can't so I just go with it 🙂
Kari
YESSSSSS!!!! Finally, someone willing to share this crazy tendency about Chipotle forks–because I feel the SAME WAY!! My husband always uses one of our metal forks when we bring Chipotle home, but now way–it tastes better with the plastic fork from there. You speak the truth!
Bree Aylwin
I agree with you on the forks! It isn't the same using one a metal one I totally agree!
You look so cute in this post! Love how open you are about your quirks I so relate!

you are hysterical girl, and I love it. I'm totally the same re: Chipotle's silverware — it's good stuff! — but other places use such cheap crap that I feel like it minimizes the taste. then my MIL will ONLY use real silverware and real plate. Kind of annoying. :)Wheh, that felt good to vent!
anyway, off topic — adorable as always!

I have these moments all the time! I have certain things I say with certain friends (like…everyone does, I guess), one of my best friends and I like to say "I'm the best!" when we do something good. It originated when she said "I really like your shirt!" and I said "Well, you got it for me" and she said "I did? Oh I did! I'm the best." But now when I say it people look at me like "Wow, you're super vain." But it's really a joke! No one laughs at my jokes. Anyway, I know how you feel. No, the polka dots don't make you look crazy, you look cute!

If my food touches… holy bananas, I am not eatiing it. Also, I cannot stand unnecessary noise and windshield wipers are the worst offenders. Therapy may be required in the future. Ha!

My big food annoyance is that cheese and mustard cannot be touching. I'll have both cheese and mustard on cheeseburgers or deli sandwiches as long as they're not touching. No idea why, I just hate it.
kate @ a journey in style
I cover my ears or hum when someone cracks their joints or knuckles. I hate hate hate that noise. But i we're just talking about what makes us crazy when it comes to food, I don't think I have any quirks. I love all food too much to care. Except when it comes to dressing. I always have to have it on the side. I don't care if you put ketchup or mustard on my burger, but don't you dare put dressing on my salad. Seriously.
Nikki
OMG this title made me laugh so hard! And I can't stand for my food touch!! And it totally freaks me out when people will eat things together (like a bite of mashed potatoes and a bite of green beans TOGETHER). Send me to the psych ward ASAP.

Hahahah you are most def a crazy person! I don't mind my food touching at all. Some food I like to mix together too. Like roast, rice and gravy and I mix in my green beans.. yummm. I'm trying to think of what makes me crazy… I know there's a lot of things. One thing is that I always have to sit either cross legged (indian style) or on one or both of my legs. Yes, I am 23 years old and sit like a child at my cubicle at my big girl job. 🙂
Alyssa
I can't relate on the whole silverware thing, but I can on ordering takeout then taking it home and it's all a nasty mess! Ugh!

Haha! This totally cracks me up because I can totally relate! I feel that way about ketchup packets from fast food places. I like to eat my fries with the ketchup they give you. If I bring the fast food home and they forget to put ketchup in my bag, it's just not the same having to use my ketchup from home. lol

Um, yeah. You are a little crazy.
Food is one of those interesting that brings out all sorts of quirks in people. It gets real fascinating, real fast – everyone's different.
Meghan @ Hayes Days
LOL! I am totally with you. Food shouldn't touch, unless it's like biscuits and gravy. Those can go ahead and touch because they're supposed to, but like deviled eggs and that cole slaw at the BBQ? No. ew. No touchy. I'm totally with you on the Chipotle fork too. I found them online and bought a ton (ok well 4000 of them) for my office so I'm never without Chipotle forks incase I forget to pick one up. So nope, those polka dots don't make you look crazy. Maybe a little OCPD, but that's OK here.
Caroline @ Tasteful Style
I don't think I ever thought about my utensils affecting the taste of my food until now…but I bet you're right! I went to Moe's tonight for dinner, and I bet my taco salad would have tasted terrible with a metal fork.
Hannah Rupp
Well, that's a first. I can't say I've heard that quirk! But of course we've all sounded crazy at one time or another. I have a slightly similar habit (in that it has to do with food) where I don't like finger food. It's like my hands are royal and common food is not allowed to touch them. It's just an icky feeling to me.
Thanks for sharing your crazy with us! lol

That is the BEST story. I can't think of anything food-related that I'm weird about, but I have weird rules about my wardrobe. I won't wear the same outfit twice in a month and I won't wear the same piece of clothing (excluding shoes and handbags, etc.) twice in a week. And I also stalk my own social media accounts almost CONSTANTLY to make sure they look good.

So many things make me crazy! I'm actually the same way about the cutlery. It's just WRONG to eat Chipotle to go with a metal fork. Also, if I'm eating Asian food, I NEED to use chopsticks.
Non-food related, I'm just a total nut job in certain ways. One example: I will only wear one new thing at a time, even if I buy two things that would be perfect together. Each piece needs to have it's own joy of being new first, and then they can be worn together.

So the food not touching thing is something my husband is weird about too. I don't get it cause I like to mix all my food, but my weird quirkis leftovers. Sometimes I get food for the sole purpose of the leftovers. I think they taste better than the original meal lol.
