Alright I’m just going to introduce these to you as I introduce them to people in real life. Hi, I’m Alissa and I’m currently wearing glasses so that I can prevent having to wear glasses when I am older. I know, I see the irony of this. They do not have a prescription and they are purely to prevent digital eye strain. Anything else I can address while we are here? Yes, the hair is naturally curly and yes, I am naturally this fair skinned. Also you can say my name like this, UH-LISS-UH. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Anyway, now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about what these really are. I bought these, but I also like these, digital eye strain glasses after seeing them on Dana and then doing a little research. I have great vision, but I work all day in front of screens and my after-work, work also requires screens. I’ve been trying to cut out extra screen time, but we all know that’s not always possible.
I tried some digital eye strain glasses from Amazon (these) that were cheap. I got them and they worked but OMG that yellow tint tho. Not exactly the hottest fashion but I was just wearing them at home to see if it was worth spending more cash on them for non urine-stained looking ones. I kind of feel like a lot of trends are smoke and mirrors so I did this for a while.
I decided to buy the real version of these glasses after a couple of graphic designer friends on Instagram also posted about them! Using the most millennial thinking ever, I figured that although work might not understand, as long as Instagram knows it’s a thing, it must be okay.
How the glasses work
So how do digital eye strain glasses work? They take out the blue-light coming from your computer/TV/any screen that strains your eyes. When you put on the glasses you can see a definite difference in lighting and it’s almost like inside sunglasses for your eyes. You can actually see in these glasses I’m wearing the blue-shield coating that is on these which is what eliminate the eye strain.
I take it pretty seriously when I talk about current trends on the blog because I don’t really want to be full of regret of pushing an agenda. I cringe so much when there is something that doesn’t age well in media. So with all of that said, I really do think these glasses are worth it. Honestly, even if they don’t do as much good as the reports show, I still think that anything that helps reduce eye strain is good.
Bonus on these glasses? Since no one really knows I wear them I consider them a disguise when I look like trash on a Target run. My hair kind of gives me away to be honest. However, if I pull it up and then wear glasses I feel like I’m invisible and it is AMAZING. I don’t want to be that person who makes glasses an accessory, but they are definitely fun to change up my look sometimes!

Sooooo… I definitely just ordered a pair of these. You had me at sunglasses for inside. And at wear them around Target when you don’t have makeup on. I love sunglasses and the lack of inside sunglasses makes me sad.

I totally started wearing these too! I have had so many fewer headaches in the last few months and no migraines, which is a huge win for me. These glasses are totally worth it!

MY fiance made me get a pair last year and I always forget to put them on. Haha. I got the fancy brand he says is the best but opted for tortoise shell frames so they were more fashionable, haha! He has the really expensive black ones

Ha! I did that in college with a pair of enormous fake glasses. Call it the Clark Kent effect – no one recognized me!

The link does not work for me…

Honestly, these look so great on you! I wear contacts/glasses, and have been wondering for a while if I could pair these with my contacts for those long computer days. Definitely looking into it!
