I wore this dress in my Mother’s Day brunch post. Due to advertising requirements I signed, I couldn’t link to it. Naturally, this is the one dress has has everyone wondering where I got it. So today I’m giving you a review of one of the best dresses I purchased this year. Bonus, it’s super affordable, and like, actually affordable. Not like when blogger says a white t-shirt is less than $95, “what a bargain!”
J. Crew Factory Chambray Dress
I love this chambray dress because it’s the perfect length for work but also is so comfortable I don’t want to change after work. I’ve hosted parties in it and well, I am happy to say the following. It’s been stained, abused and washed and it still looks good. The only con about it is that I do recommend quickly removing from the dryer or planning on steaming it before you wear it. It’s chambray but has just enough of a linen-influence to have some pesky wrinkles.
The dress is true to size in the waist but in the top it’s a little tight. I’m wearing a size 12 for reference. I’ve found that a lot of J. Crew is not cut for busty women so I tend to go up a size. If you’re worried about the V being too low, you’ll for sure want to size up to ensure you can comfortably fit a camisole underneath.
Oh and it is the LIGHTEST dress that is perfect for a hot day! I love that it’s almost a faux-wrap but I don’t have to deal with the actual wrap part. The little ruffle makes it a little dressier but you can pretty much show up like a slum and this dress make you look like you tried.
Also In My Cart
As I was writing this, I happened to check on the chambray dress to make sure it’s in stock and well… now I have about three more dresses in my cart that are going to be coming home with me! And by coming home, I mean shipped to my house.
Speaking of Chambray…
Do you all remember the chambray shirt of 2012 where every blogger was wearing a chambray shirt, whether it needed to be worn or not. Can we discuss that for a moment? Why were we just layering it over three other shirts? Why did we wear so much denim on denim? It’s not even 20 years later and I have regret. I thought I would at least have a grace period before cringe set in about what I was wearing. And let’s not even discuss the “stack” situation going on with our arms.
Anyway, the moral of the story is that you need this dress. Your summer wardrobe will thank you and then thank me. Please tag me in all photos wearing it so I can hype you up. I am your chambray dress hype woman.

Ahh I ordered this dress in stripes and it’s supposed to be delivered today – so excited!! It looks so cute on you. And OMG 2012 arm parties – what were we thinking?!

Chambray shirts + neon crew neck sweater + equally bright BUBBLE NECKLACE… lordy lordy. I’m honestly pretty glad fashion has swung more neutral/minimalist, that was exhausting for a hot second.

Ok – love the dress – but love the comments about 2012 even more. SO many bracelets, all worn together, all the time. What were we thinking?! I wear a watch daily now and that’s it. So much easier than trying to attach 8 million clasps every morning for my stack haha.

That dress is fabulous! It looks amazing on you!

Hi Alissa! Love the dress, it suit you perfectly (although I’d want it a little longer, closer to my knees lol). I’ve been a long time fan of chambray and have a couple of dresses and shirts in this timeless fabric, one of which I only picked up in our end of summer sales only a few weeks ago. It can also be seasonless if worn layered or with boots and tights. And I have to agree with you on the shirt layering and bracelet stacking. I was over them before they went out of style – far too fussy and time consuming for this regular woman. Take care x

It’s such a cute dress! J.crew will always have my heart. Even if their clothes aren’t always made with curves in mind.

See this is why I’m not a fashion blogger because I still wear a chambray shirt with great frequency. Glad those arm parties are over though. Yikes.
And thank you for never telling me that a $92.78 TSHIRT (A steal! And on sale!) is something I should be buying. You a real one.
Love this. Love you. xo, Em

Ha, love that $95 white tee comment — truth! And, you look seriously adorable in this. J Crew Factory has so much cuteness right now. I just got a few things there, including a bathing suit I’m in love with.
