I haven’t done this in two months despite this being one of my monthly top posts. Good thing I’m not trying to make it big in this blogging world. Anyway, the usual things are what have been keeping me from doing this, work travel and when I am in town, being over-committed.
Style & Beauty
I’ve been on a white dress buying binge thanks to some upcoming wedding stuff. I think it’s just because I’m wanting white dresses for the first time in my life, but it feels like EVERYTHING is white this summer! I’ve got a full post/review of white dresses ranging from $35-$275 coming later this summer. Here are ones that I’ve tried on/purchased/had some positive feelings on.
This white one I wore in Panama and while I wouldn’t normally go for this, it was actually really comfortable and I highly recommend it if you’re doing anything beachy. Plus it’s on super sale now! (Also for some reason on Instagram you all loved this so I can also say it’s Instagram approved!)
This is a new-to-me brand of shoes but they are SO COMFORTABLE and unique! I can’t remember where I found out about them but I am pretty sure I was #influenced somewhere. I am going to pair them with this dress for a bridal shower.
I’ve never owned a Lily Pulitzer dress and now I own two. I really didn’t want to love them but I do. I don’t love how small the sizing is (definitely size up) but their summer dresses are just too good. This is my bridal shower dress and this is my batchelorette party dress. (Totally influenced by Covering the Bases who wore it at hers and it was SO CUTE!)
I’ve always wanted to try a lash growth serum but have been afraid of them turning my eyes brown. I read some reviews for RevitaLash and got a 3 month supply. Don’t let the high price that shows up on websites fool you, you can get the small version for a much more affordable rate that isn’t over $100.
Oh and finally, J. Crew has a cute and comfortable white (and other colors!) dress that you can catch on sale! I got a 10 in white and I will probably also get the green soon!
It was time for a new eye cream and honestly? I don’t really feel like I’ve found one so far so I naturally went to Grace Atwood to see what she was recommended. I got this one and a trial kit of the other line items. I just started it so I don’t know if it’s going to make it into the usual rotation, I’ll let you know next month.
Finally, this jumpsuit is AMAZING! I got it for Panama last month and I have worn it so much since then. It’s comfortable, loose and fitted in the right areas and my absolute go-to when I don’t want to dress up but kind of have to look decent. It’s adorable with this hat. They also have a shorts version of this too.
Wedding
I would say that this was the month that suddenly I was like, oh wait, the wedding isn’t that far off I need to really kick the saving into even higher gear. Eeek! We sent out our Save the Dates digitally (via Paperless Post, so much cheaper than traditional save the dates!) and I think that is what made me feel like it was really real. Also my dress came in! I got to try it on over Memorial Day weekend and it continues to be absolutely perfect. My alterations (just the hemline and bust) will start in August. Be sure that you bring all the pairs of shoes you plan on wearing at the wedding to your appointment so your seamstress can make sure your hemline compliments your height!
And to be honest, I already am starting to have some wedding blues as I think about things being done. I won’t be able to do them again and it’s like I want to do it ALL but I don’t want to actually hit send because the planning has been so blissful.
Summer is when we have to make a lot of final payments and decisions so my weekends are spent with vendors, singing tings and going over details with our exceptionally wonderful coordinator, Aharon at Events and Design by Ashley. (She’s going to get an entire post dedicated to how wonderful she is and we are barely halfway to the wedding!) You know you have an amazing planner when all your photographer friends get excited for you that you have her.
On a lighter note, I’ve been slowly breaking in my wedding shoes and I just want to remind anyone getting married soon to do that too! My Loeffer Randall shoes I’m wearing for the reception are just a bit tight so they required some break-in before they were perfect, even after I went up a 1/2 size.
Friendship
This one is a carry-over from wedding because I absolutely will be a broken record about this. One of the best things about wedding planning has been the time that I get to talk to my friends. Yes, I know that doesn’t need a wedding, but I love having a purpose to get together and it has provided so many legitimate moments of okay can we please just sit down and do this together that it’s been nice.
Also, a reader Nicole, who inspired this post, and I got to hang out again and I just want to say that if you ever want to hang out, talk, get advice or whatever, I am so down! It’s so hard to make new friends as an adult and I am so happy that Nicole did because we have a lot of the same struggles! If you’re wondering if you should email someone for lunch, do it! You never know what might happen.
And absolutely last but not least, my friend Sarah, whom I mentioned in this post last year, was chosen for a baby girl! We had absolutely no idea this baby was on the way or that the birth mom was considering Josh and Sarah but we are so thankful! Unfortunately that night was a travel night from hell so I wasn’t able to be there right when her parents met her but I was at the hospital as soon as I landed and got to meet Cecilia and her birth mom and watch the most amazing act of love as she handed over her child. There’s a lot more to come on this story, but we are just happy that Miss Cecilia is with us!
Before You Go
We are way past 10 things for this month but it was a good month so I have so much to share! Just a few final things to share with you as I wrap up this month.
- I had a chance to email someone I used to be closer friends with and clear the air on what happened. No fall out was ever a thing, but we had some weird air we needed to clear. Don’t put off the email. Just send it. Send the text. Whatever it is, stop wasting time.
- I’m trying to read more this summer to reduce screen time and there are so many good books out right now! Use the extra daylight to read and start a new series!
- I hope you know that you have value just as you are. Exactly where you are.

Awe, congrats to your friend on her new baby girl! How exciting! So glad to hear that the wedding planning is still going well and is extra fun for you. I think I’ve told you this a million times, but enjoy every single second because it’ll be over way too fast. 🙂
