If you’re on this page, you probably are like me and needed some curly hair tips and help! I got frustrated with the amount of “curly” hair articles I read that basically only had TWO waves in their hair and that was the “curl” level they would deal with. Nope. Not exactly going to work for my curls!
As I started blogging, I got more and more emails asking for help on finding your best haircut. Everything from how to talk to a hairstylist while getting a haircut to my most tried and true products. If you have a question that I don’t address here, say hi!
You can also find out my tips for the best curly hairstyles here!
These are my favorite products that I use consistently. One of the biggest issues with curly hair products is that they so often tend to add weight and dry out your hair. I’ve finally found the perfect mix for my curly hair that builds volume, holds all day long and doesn’t dry out my hair. Life achievement, unlocked.

Since curly hair tends to be dry, I believe in the power of a 30 minute leave-in conditioner. Cocoa butter conditioners such as this one and this one give me the best results! Here are my keys to a great foundation for your curly hair:
After I get out of the shower, I simply use the products listed above, diffuse and go! It’s been my system for years. You can see how I diffuse my hair in this post.
Oh and one more note, the less you touch your hair, the better! I refuse to let anyone touch my hair, regardless of circumstances. I’m not a dog, do not pet me, a line I’ve had to say an ungodly amount of times.

Alissa,
How and when do you apply the DevaCurl Frizz Free Volumnizing Foam?

Hi Nicole! What I do is after I get the excess water (otherwise the product slides off and it's a waste) gently off, I apply it and then start blow drying my hair. Sometimes when I want to play around I apply it and then kind of shape my curls with my fingers. I generally just scrunch it into my hair in random order! I hope that helps!

Hi, I have hair very similar to yours and I've been using the Deva products for awhile and have even been to the salon in NYC twice for their hair stylist trainings. My problem is I get really inconsistent results with the deva products, so you use all those deva products once a week and the garnier products the rest of the week…and the mousse and spray don't make it too producty? I am close to giving up on wearing my hair curly cuz lately it looks so frizzy all the time, but straightening it is way more of a hassle.

Hi! I wish I had your email so I could encourage you but I don't so I hope that you get this! The way that I keep it from having too much product is that I rinse it (not wash) almost every single day. So while I'm not cleaning my hair, it is taking off a layer of product basically. It probably sounds gross but it works for me.

Hi again, so I am a product junkie and I had all three products that you use daily and I tried it with just rinsing my hair, and I liked the results..but it was a little crunchy, does this happen to you too? ALso I was wondering if you use the curly girl method of not combing your hair or wrapping it in a regular towel and just scrunching out the water with a tshirt or microfiber towel?
