You can be the weird one, the one that does thing different, the one that causes chaos and confusion. You can do that for a while and then after a few years, when things go back, they welcome you with arms and close their eyes to any other bad because you are their sister and nothing changes that.
You will make time for what you love. This is a common saying but my sisters exemplify this. My sisters all own very successful businesses, had several children and educated them at the same time. Some of them pay a babysitter to come over so they can have an afternoon away to focus on their business. Other times they just have to juggle everything at once and maintain their sanity. They are working machines. They never have free time but always find time to accomplish massive goals and maintain their own identity.

Ah, what a fun sister-themed post! (And what a crazy coincidence- I have three older sisters as well!!) I agree with the never say never. Life takes you in a lot of unexpected directions!

Sounds like you have some amazing sisters to look up to! I have an older sister and a younger sister and I do not know what I would do without them. We are all so different, but that's what makes it great. On a different note…loving the polka dots and black/blue combo!

Older sisters are the best. Sounds like you have some seriously great ones. I am loving this combo. I have a similar pair of pants and now feel pretty convinced I need a black and white polka dot sweater.

No way! This is the funnest fact ever!! I have two older sisters, so I can completely, completely relate to you. We've never really been "sister best friends" (you know the type) until like the last few years; it has become such a different relationship that I love. How cool that you have three older sisters, at all different walks of life, that can be such awesome role models for you. They sound like ass-kickers for sure! Also- love what you said about coming back and sisters always being sisters. That to me is one of the most loveliest, reassuring things in life.
I loved getting to learn more about your family! And, the shoes + pants combo! I've got some tux pants similar to this that are hard for me to wear for some reason. Have a fabulous weekend, Alissa!!

These are great things that you have learned from your sisters 🙂 I am in the middle of my two sisters but I can say I've learned a lot from both of them too! Also – how cute are these heels and your polka dots?!

Woah, you are 20 apart from your oldest sister? That's incredible. Do they have blog too for their businesses? Do they ever ask you what's cool these days?
Allie
I love this!! I'm the oldest of three sisters (so we are opposites!) and all of this advice is dead on! I love how my sisters and I have become so close over the years and respect each other more as adults instead of nagging sisters. 🙂

I had no idea you had so many sisters! I kinda jealous…I'm the oldest sibling (also the oldest among all my cousins) so I never had any one to look up to or blaze the trail ahead of me. It kinda sucks being the first one to do everything!

This whole post is amazing! I have two younger brothers and I've started to see my brothers as two awesome intelligent dudes rather than annoying buggers that I can't get rid of. I love this: "You probably won't end up where you thought you would. You will probably end up somewhere better." I can relate because I didn't think I would end up working social media at a magazine, but I love my job!

I grew up the middle sister – love them now, even if we had our spats growing up! And this: "You probably won't end up where you thought you would. You will probably end up somewhere better"….. I need that tattooed on my forehead so I can read it to myself everyday!

Love this post and the fact that you have older sisters is amazing and I bet fun. I had an older brother, a sister 364 days older than me is my biological sibling, we were adopted together, yeah mom and dad, and a younger brother. I've been close to my brothers but there is nothing like sisterly love. My sister and I spent quite a few years sort of on different planets, writing each other, but as we've gotten older and had the luxury of technology we talk on the phone almost every day, text and if I could just get her to Skype I would be in heaven! I love her with all my heart and she is the best. We each have a quirky sense of humor and can pull each other out of a deep depression. Sisters are the best. Just like your outfit! Love those shoes with those pants and the hat tops it all off like a cherry on a sundae! Love you girl so glad to see you posting again. till next time we speak….

Such a sweet and thoughtful post. Wish I had a sister. Loving the hat. I need a black beanie. And I own similar pants by the way, which I love. =)

You are so lucky to have so many amazing big sisters. Because my sister is 8 years younger than me, I feel like I had to wait an awful long time to finally have a relationship with her that was more than me just trying to be a second Mom. (okay, I still do that too, but really, doesn't know how to use a coffee maker at 20?!)
Sounds like your whole family is filled with a bunch of girls who just decided to go for it!

Aaaaw, I can almost imagine your curly pretty heads! 😀 Those are some great lessons and I wholeheartedly agree. You never know what life has in store for you, as long as you do whatever makes you happy, things will eventually fall into place.
And I try to say "I would never…." as less as possible, because I know its bullshit and in a few years things will be different 😀
