April Showers Bring May Flowers

I think Kansas missed the April showers thing and has decided to just make up for it with random thunderstorms in May. This was the case on last Saturday night when Andrew and I were headed to Lawrence for a date night at our favorite restaurant. We were about halfway there when all of the sudden our radio went crazy. Andrew just changed the channel. Problem solved. I stared at him in shock because I was brought up that if you didn’t listen to your weather radio you will surely die. I contemplated our whole relationship right then and there. Could I be with someone who so brazenly just turned off a weather alert (which probably wasn’t even for the area we were in but whatever)? He looked at the sky and then me. He gave me a horribly sad face. “I’m sorry it’s going to rain before we do blog photos.” 

….silence… 


“It’s OK baby.” I said and gulped. I was not OK with any of this. We pulled into Lawrence just as it started raining.

 I hated everything.  What was the point of even shaving my legs? I was not happy about anything. We went on and had dinner. I had the world’s best crab rangoon. I smiled. It rained. For approximately 10 minutes. That entire mess of emotions about having to walk in the rain, in heels, in a white blazer and not get outfit photos done was caused by 10 freaking minutes of rain. I wanted to sue someone. Andrew informed me I cannot sue the weather. 


Then we quickly realized that if we hurried we would get some photos. Not great photos but some photos. When I realized this it was like no rainstorm had ever happened or that my hair had never frizzed up because of the rain. So these aren’t my favorite photos but the fact that Andrew thought of the issue of rain and blog photos made me proud. And the flowers did look nice after the stupid rain shower I have to admit.
