Sometimes, while Andrew and I are taking photos, I think I have this gorgeous Giselle face thing or something and I am just feeling the moment. Like I am auditioning for America’s Next Top Model or something. I am working the angles, I’m finding my light, I’m gazing appropriately off into the sunset and I’m like BAM! BAM! BAM! Pose after pose. It never fails that when I am in that BAM! BAM! working my angles zone I, in fact, look like a complete cad. In fact, I’d say that I look like a tool. I normally realize this after about half the photos have been taken. Then I try and compensate for my said toolness-looking photos that I do nothing but laugh at myself and never get a decent photo. This is one of those said times. The first half of photos I was just posing, posing, posing and totally rocking my angles. Except not at all. I just looked like a tool.

People ask me if it’s weird to take photos in public. Yes. 100% yes. It is the weirdest thing to have people walk past you as you fake laugh, try and find your angles, have your boyfriend take photos of your shoes, etc. People either assume you are a complete vain tool or think you are taking senior photos. Thankfully this doesn’t bother Andrew at all but it totally bugs me. I’m a *little* bit better about it than I used to be. I used to run off my with tripod the moment I saw a person appear in my photo taking area. That was ridiculously exhausting.
So what are your photo stories? How many times do you think you are just killing it in photos and realize you look awful? Have people commented on you taking outfit photos?

oh taking outfits pics is the worst ugh! now whenever I see someone starring I just wave at them lol. You always look natural and gorgeous in your pics.

Imagine how weird it is when it's just you and your tripod and you're trying to look candid….
You always look fab, girl!

It is weird taking photos, I agree! I'm loving your scarf with that jean jacket!

Lol you are hilarious! I love that you tell it like it is. I can totally relate, though. When we first started blogging, I used to run and hide on occasion as well π Love the outfit – you look great!

I remember one time some guy stopped to warn me that it was dangerous to be taking pictures and to be careful, but really, I've never had any weird moments. Except for the small child who told me I had a cute outfit but that I must have been really cold. That kid.
Anyway, I think you look FABUUUUULOSO and not like a tool here. π We are just too hard on ourselves, goodness gosharoo.

This happens to me ALL THE TIME. Over the weekend my husband was taking photos of me and actually told me to quit making weird faces. I totally thought I was rocking the model face. Nope.

All I can think of when I see this title is, "pants on the ground, pants on the ground. Lookin like a fool…" is that a song? If not, my little brother made it up and he sings it all the time.

Haha, I have learned from taking blog photos that modeling is hard! My neighbors are constantly making comments when I take my photos so I always pray no one is around to watch.

Hahaha I always run away with my tripod when I see someone coming. One time I heard someone coming out onto the back balcony where I take photos sometimes, and I completely bolted, leaving the camera and tripod behind. Whoever came out was probably so confused.

i am ALWAYS thinking i look like a top model and get back and i'm half squinting, have a lazy eye, look weird and none of them turn out. i usually use the passable ones and laugh/cry at my inability to be a bombshell!

I definitely feel silly when I'm taking outfit shots outside (on the rare occasion I do so). I have yet to master the fake laugh!
And there are times when I feel like I'm giving really good face (or whatever the term is), and then I review the shots and I'm like, "Cool, I look evil AND constipated. Great combo."

What? You don't look like a tool at all!! I take photos with a tripod and people sometimes walk by. Since I take pictures near my apartment, it's always neighbors who see me, which probably adds to the embarrassment since I see them other times as well. But they're always nice about it and one guy jokes with me that I really love taking pictures of that one bench which you can see behind me in pictures.

Aha very funny. In fact just this morning as I was taking my pictures a man walked by and looked for a few seconds but I continued on and did not make eye contact. Today was the first day I did not pack up my camera and run and ditch the picture taking. I did that a few times before when someone came along. Not anymore

Sometimes I can only get pictures during the day while I'm at work. Of course, I don't want anyone I work with to see me, but there are also plenty of people walking around the complex from other places. The other day I saw our UPS drive by, then I had to go inside and receive packages from him. So, that was fun. I think it makes us MORE normal to be aware and slightly uncomfortable, haha.
Great, classic outfit! Love that gorgeous scarf. Thanks for your kind words, always!!

I've gotten so many different reactions over the years, and once in a while i'll have a moment when I just want to run off with my tripod, but for the most part I've learned to deal with the stares and reactions.
I think you are looking fab in these photos, but my tried and true method for when I'm having a bad photo sesh – put on my sunglasses.

I have totally thought that the pictures were going to look amazing only to find that I hated every single one of them. We haven't really taken too many pictures in public places, we always do them in our neighborhood. I'm not bothered by it but Tyler thinks its so weird! We just moved so he thinks our neighbors think we're weird haha. He says he can't wait until we go do them in more public places so that it's less "strange". Why are the boys totally comfortable!? haha

I get totally weirded out when Iz is taking my pics. I usually do them in my yard because we live across the street from a college campus and in the front yard would be uncomfortable!

Haha…I always think you look great in your photos so I don't know what you are talking about π I'm a really nervous model and try to stick to the same poses because when I try to be all "modely" I make really strange faces and get crazy eyes.

I *hate* it when my neighbors see me taking photos–the worst is when they ask about it and I have to explain.

Oh man, I look like such a turd when I'm taking photos outside. Poor Brian has to deal with my spazz self while I'm trying to not look like a dumbass, haha.

I take 100% of my outfit photos in my backyard because I am deathly afraid of someone seeing me and asking questions…maybe someday I'll be brave like you!

I am terrible with my pictures – I try to look model-esque and just look angry or confused. But then I feel weird just smiling too. I may never achieve the right picture taking faces. Also posing in general- I don't know what to do with myself. You always look so natural and happy and fabulous! Oh, and I still haven't gotten used to people seeing me take my pictures. I try to ignore them, but it is impossible for me!

And in truth? In every photo you rock it! Have more confidence before and after you see the photos. You look great sweetie. Chin up, you are a young, beautiful person. I love checking out your new blog posts, seeing your outfit combinations. You're wrong, you are stunning! Repeat it after me π

I don't know how some bloggers do the "model" face so well but I just look really angry and scary when I try not to emote too much. Posing is a problem on a whole other level! But you're looking lovely in every photo here!
Taking photos in public requires so much confidence it's a bit scary. When I dormed on campus, I found a pretty secluded spot but occasionally someone would pass by and I'd freak out.

Hahaha Giselle face, I'm dying! It took me a while to feel comfortable, but taking photos in public doesn't phase me anymore. I once had a guy come and sit down to watch me and my friend take photos and he kept giving us verbal feedback. I've had plenty of stares and a few photobombs. The things we do!

haha oh man, I hate taking outfit photos! My husband takes them in the alleyway behind our house and MOST of the time there is no one back there, but every once in a while a neighbor comes out and then I just try to pretend I'm doing something else entirely (like they really believe I'm looking at flowers…). It makes me laugh the things they must say to each other in their houses – "that crazy lady is out there again making that man take pictures of her." Oh, the things we do for blog photos!
I am so glad I stumbled across your blog! I am a new follower via GFC!

I think it is way easier to take photos in the public when you at least have a photog! The gals who take their pics in public places by themselves with a tripod are (un)self-conscious in a way I could never be!
I know what you mean about the posing though – half the time I'm like "just show the dang outfit" and I end up looking like a stiff board, the other half I feel like I'm laughing off into space at nothing! ;o)

You look adorable!! Love this π The posing is great!
