8. You are allowed to have fun. You are allowed to have fun. Just remember that.
9. You are allowed to not give a flip what people think about you. Seriously. You are 22 and don’t have to live your life for the approval of others.
10. The 20’s are awesome. They really are. I have never felt so confident in myself and yet scared. This next year is graduation and when I will be starting a career and I’ve learned that it is perfectly OK to say you are scared out of your mind for it.
11. You are an adult and the mistakes you make are on YOU. You are an adult and accountable for your actions, good or bad.
12. Learn to say no. Learn what your limits are and what you will and will not do. People will walk all over you if they get the chance. Know what your limits are.
13. Make time for yourself. No, really. Even if it’s just a 10 minute walk, make time for yourself. My time is exercising and I completely look forward to it just being ME.
14. READ THE DIRECTIONS OVER AND OVER AGAIN! You will thank me later.
15. Have a hardcore discussion with yourself about spending habits. It sucks but is necessary.
16. It’s better to have a few loyal friends than a ton of acquaintances that are nowhere to be found during a rough patch.
17. Opening up and being honest will create some of the best conversations ever. Don’t be afraid to speak up.
18. Realize it’s ok that you go to bed at 10:30 pm. I learned this year what works best for my body. No one can tell you that is wrong.
19. Life is short and if you can swing it, buy the shoes. But don’t use your credit card to pay for them.
20. Lazy Sundays are the best and homework is the devil.
21. Start waking up early. It’s so healthy to embrace the quiet and calm before the rest of the world wakes up.
22. You aren’t 30 yet so you don’t have to have it all together. 30 is the cutting off point.

Oh shoot, I guess I should have it all together by now, but I guess I'm mostly there! I wish I had realized some of these things when I was 22 instead of 26 or so haha. Your boots are really cute!

So I was watching a movie trailer the other day (because sometimes I get sucked into watching movie trailers on youtube for like an hour) and I heard a quote I liked,
"Nobody feels like an adult. It's the world's dirty secret."
and I thought, so damn true. I don't remember which movie it was, just that Ted from How I met your mother was in it.
Reading the directions over and over is good advice. It's crazy how our minds work. when we think we know something already, we just skip over it. We don't even realize what we've done until things turn out horribly wrong.
I do think that you should put the shoes on your credit card though. It's important to start building good credit and paying that sucker back in full every month. So that someday, when you want to do something awesome like buy a house, you can get that loan.

Me too! I spent the better part of my college years and early 20s only caring about getting some good color. And now I am a permanent freckle face, sigh.

more words of wisdom from you – I love it! 22 was a good year for me! I graduated from college, started my job, and got married. But yeah, it was scary at times, and a complete whirlwind most of the time.
And I guess I have 11 months to get it all together! I didn't know 30 was the cut off. π

Haha! I have a spoiler alert for you: you still won't have it all together by 30. And that's what makes life so much fun! π I totally agree with the idea of waking up early. That time is just for me and I can enjoy the calm and peace before my day gets busy.

You are so wise. Why didn't you tell me these things when I was 22? I don't agree with the getting up early thing though – I prefer to go to bed early and get up late π Also, I am going to have to get my life together since I will be 30 in 3 years. I have a feeling I still won't have it together…

I agree with all 22 lessons! I'm 25 going on 26, so I'm glad to hear someone else is defining 30 as the cut-off point!

I just hit 27 and things are starting to come together (read: grad school is done and I now have a job I love), but those post-college years were ROUGH. Suddenly, your whole world changes and free time isn't around quite as much as it used to be. But it sounds like you've got your stuff together much more than I did when I graduated haha

I swear that when I turned 20 my metabolism just went to the shits. I've exercised and eaten healthy all the time but I've noticed my body has been changing AND GETTING OLDER IS SCARY. Also 22 is not old. We still young, we still young.
That sweater looks scrumptiously warm. I especially like the neck action going on there.

I agree to almost everything, haha. I'll be 22 in 6 months and while 21 still sounds pretty young 22 is a scary number! I cannot imagine how I'll feel when I turn 40 one year. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE this outfit. That turtleneck sweater looks SO super comfy and those booties are very pretty too π xo

22 is one of the best years I ever had. I say this as a a very sage, wise 25 year old. But seriously, you're finally grown up and confident, like you said, and meanwhile, the world is kind of at your fingertips. What's next? It's so scary but exhilarating at the same time.
